Executive Director, Global Program Purchasing
Kathy Worthen is responsible for leading the General Motors Global Program Purchasing team. She is a part of the leadership team that focuses on the management of 7,500+ suppliers, vehicle profitability, and flawless launch execution.
Worthen works seamlessly with the supply base and Executive Vehicle Engineers to support GM’s single purpose of earning customers for life. Additionally, Worthen is leading Material Cost Optimization.
Prior to taking on this role, Worthen spent three years as the Vice President of Global Purchasing & Supply Chain at GM’s European Operation. During this time, Worthen streamlined the procurement organization to become world-class and was named Top 25 Leading Women In Automotive by Automotive News Europe.
Since 1998, Worthen has held various leadership roles within Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. Her robust knowledge and strive for continuous improvement is instrumental in providing the best value to our customers.
Prior to joining GM in 1998, Worthen worked for EDS in Troy, Michigan as a Case Analyst for Chevrolet Motor Division. She held several diverse leadership positions within EDS, which included Southwest Region Case Manager where she managed Lemon Law arbitrations with the BBB for the state of Florida.
Outside of GM, Worthen served as a National Board Member of the Girl Scouts of USA from 2010-2015.
Worthen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Oakland University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Oakland University.
