John Plant commenced his career at the Birmingham offices of Deloitte & Touche before moving to Lucas Industries in 1978 to begin his career in the automotive industry. Within a few years, he moved into general management leading a multi-location business based in Burnley, Lancashire. Subsequently, assignments were undertaken in various operational locations, which lead to engagements with corporate matters of mergers, redomicile, take-over, and finally a leveraged buy-out, followed by an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange.
Plant is a member of the Board of Directors of Masco Corporation as well as the Automotive Safety Council, and a Vice Chairman of the Washington based Kennedy Center Corporate Fund Board.
A graduate of the University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Economics, Accounting and Law, Plant is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
