Jan Carlson is Chairman, President and CEO of Autoliv Inc., the worldwide leader in automotive safety which develops and manufactures automotive safety systems for all major automotive manufacturers in the world.
Autoliv Inc. is incorporated in the state of Delaware, and its global headquarters is located in Stockholm, Sweden. Together with its joint ventures, Autoliv has annual revenues of around 9.2 billion USD and more than 80 facilities with around 66,000 employees in 27 countries.
Traffic fatalities are one of the leading causes of death globally. Autoliv’s focus is to save more lives, protecting vehicle occupants and preventing vehicle collisions from occurring. Today’s crash avoidance technologies are capable of preventing many types of vehicle collisions before they happen and under Carlson’s leadership, Autoliv continuously innovates and delivers world class automotive safety systems, which eventually will be strong contributors to the autonomous car.
Carlson has been with Autoliv since 1999. Prior to his appointment to CEO, he was President of the company’s Electronics division and the integration of electronics into new safety systems to further protect people has long been a driving force for him.
Carlson’s five years at Saab Combitech (1993-1999), a division within the Saab aircraft group specializing in commercializing military technologies, where he was President and CEO started with responsibility to develop and produce advanced computer systems for fighter and commercial aircrafts. He has also worked in Sales & Marketing and as a plant manager.
Carlson began his professional career at Swedish Gate Array AB, a niche company specializing in design and manufacturing of advanced integrated circuits, where he worked immediately following his Master of Science from University of Linköping in 1988. From 1991-1993 he was President and CEO.

Carlson is an active mentor for the advancement of women in business through his engagement in the Swedish “Ruter Dam” initiative.
